Testimonials
As a single mother that lives paycheck to paycheck, it can be hard to give my daughter the right supplies she needs for school. Bridge the Gap was able to help me by getting my daughter a refurbished laptop so she is to be able to do school work at home.
Some of my students struggle to finish their homework due to a lack of home technology access. So when I contacted Bridge the Gap, I was able to help my students access technology so they can succeed in the future, as well as other students in my school.
While watching young adults grow up and go to college, I realize that some of them do not have the best foundation for understanding technology. As a College Professor, I spend my free time tutoring local students through Bridge the Gap’s Tutoring Service. Now I feel even more fulfilled in my career choice than ever before. Seeing students succeed is one of my favorite things to do.
Services
Tech For Students
Bridge the Gap supplies classrooms and educators with tools such as laptops, tablets, projectors, and more to help prepare their students for a bright future. Additionally, we offer technology to families whose children are enrolled in local public schools that otherwise couldn’t afford it.
Improving our Infrastructure
Rural communities often lack the infrastructure, like reliable internet and cellular data, that keeps them connected in the modern world. We work with the local government and cable companies to bring this necessary infrastructure to our communities.
Tutoring Services
Bridge the Gap hires experienced tutors to work both in person and online with local students who may be struggling academically. Tutors are available 7 days a week from 5 pm to 10 pm Monday to Friday and 12 pm to 6 pm Saturday and Sunday.
Securing Supplies
Our organization supplies local classrooms with school supplies their students need for success. (i.e., pencils, paper, books, backpacks, and more!) Supplies can be requested for individual students and for classrooms as well.
Exposure to Opportunites
We work with educators to create affordable workshops, field trips, and programs for local students to discover new career opportunities they may not have had access to.
Online Courses
We provide online courses for students in rural communities across the U.S., focusing on technology-based skills such as programming, graphic design, animation, game design, web design, and more.

About us
Humble Beginnings
During their teaching careers in the countryside of Southern Ohio, our founders, Otis and Margaret Richards, noticed the disparity between the technological and educational opportunities offered to metropolitan students compared to those available in rural areas. They set out to make these opportunities accessible and affordable to their communities. Since 2010, Bridge the Gap has helped hundreds of rural classrooms provide the modern educational tools their students deserve.
